Building Your Window of Tolerance: Skills for Staying Regulated

About this live event

Why do we react the way we do, and why do the people we love react the way they do? The Window of Tolerance is a simple, powerful map for understanding emotional reactivity in ourselves and others. This session covers the basics of how our nervous system responds to stress, how to recognize when we've been pushed outside our window, and what to do about it. We'll explore distress tolerance skills for navigating crisis moments and practical emotion regulation skills for building long-term resilience. These webinars are open to anyone who loves someone struggling with addiction or mental health challenge. Whether you’re a parent, sibling, partner, adult child, or close friend, our webinars are designed to support you. You do not need to be a client of Promises to attend; these are free and open to the broader community. No CE's are offered for our Family Webinars.

Live event Instructor(s)

  • Jake Mouliert, LPC

    Jake is a licensed therapist in the state of Pennsylvania working as a lead therapist at The Ranch of Pennsylvania's outpatient program. He finds deep meaning in building relationships within the therapeutic context and offering practical tools to help individuals navigate the challenges of life. Jake primarily draws from DBT and ACT, with psychodynamic principles woven throughout his work. He also holds a deep and abiding commitment to diet soda, and cherishes time spent with his wife and daughter.
